I had a sore tongue for a long time. REALLY sore. In fact, I used to bite my tongue so often that it probably bled.
I'm glad those days are over, for the most part.
As I practiced biting my tongue more and more, I found it became more natural to hold my tongue. More holding, less biting.
What a relief.
Today, I find myself biting my tongue.
Ow.
And that previous blogpost will probably remain in 'draft' mode forever. (thankfully). Maybe using draft is a good self editing tool. In a few days the urge to speak will lessen and eventually it will be gone. And the truth is, it won't matter. Which tells me its not important, and yet........
I feel like some people need a good shaking.
The end.
I should bite my tongue more often and use "draft" as a self editing tool as well. Self restraint is not my strong suite.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa!! It has taken me a long time to get to where I hold my tongue as much as I do, but
ReplyDeleteI am much better than I used to be. God has really done some amazing things in my life. And that post is still in draft and I will probasbly delete it soon - and I fell really good about that.
Its still a hard thing to remain silent, but for me, its sometimes the best thing to do. I'm at the Jewelry artists retreat and am using someones laptop, its killing me! so hard to type.
Aaaahhhh the bloody tongue syndrome. I have used the technique to vent in my writing and then never post or send. Helps for the cooling off period. Kudos to you for this approach.
