Its better than good

So much better than good. I really didn't think it would turn out so great. But it exceeded my expectations.

I mentioned not long ago that I often create in fits and spurts, obtaining inspiration from what I have on hand. Last night was no exception.

And what I had on hand was this:

  • leftover frozen smoothy (peach, strawberry, banana, and a bit of light soy milk)
  • a half a banana
  • raw sunflower seeds (I think they were raw)
  • sea salt
  • raw wild honey
  • raw almond butter
So. I know I like peanut butter and banana, so we've got a similar match going on there.

The seeds I thought would add some texture.

The frozen smoothy was just too good to pass up.

And lastly the honey - for a dash of extra sweetness and a little 'gooey' factor (honey gets amazingly gooey when mixed with something cold like the frozen smoothy)

What I did:

I misted the sunflower seeds with water and then gave them a very light dusting of freshly ground sea salt.

I sliced banana in the bottom of the bowl and then drizzled (as best I could) about a tablespoon of almond butter over the nanners.

A touch of honey on that, then two spoonfuls of the frozen smoothy on top.

Top that with the sunflower seeds and another drizzle of honey and we are good to go.

I did tuck a few more banana slices around the edge.

This was SO delicious!

Even for NON raw foodists - this is GREAT snack!

Hopefully I'll get some jewelry showing up here soon.

I have not had a chance to get to the bench since Tuesday night.

  1. YUM! I wish I had half of the imagination you have with food. How on earth did you come up with this???

  2. Lisa, I don't know how I come up with half of what I do - just sort of thinking out loud while looking at what I have sitting there! I made this same one again last night!

  3. Janice--I finally had the chance to catch up on your blog this morning...your raw diet is inspirational! You always make me think about what I could be doing in my art and my life, so THANK YOU!! Have a great weekend!

  4. Elenor - thank you for sharing that! sometimes I feel like I'm just talking to myself - it is good to know there are people reading out there even if they aren't commenting! ;-)
