Its finished..............I think.

I think its done, but it may not be. It may turn out that I return this to the flame, melt the wax off, and repatinate it as I had originally wanted a much darker red/brown. However, I am a bit tired of fiddling with it and have learned the discipline of 'quitting while you're ahead' and so, I've declared it finished.

For now.

I don't have all the proper stakes and honestly couldn't seem to find anything the right size/shape to put this on to rework the opening which got slightly off kilter during the last round of chasing (because if was not completely full of wax, nor was the wax completelt cooled - I'm still working on the discipline of patience). So the mouth is a little crooked, and the chasing is a little rough - not to mention a design that's not what it could be. Buuuuuuuuut, lets just pretend we've never even SEEN David Huang's vessels. Lets just pretend that no one else on the face of the planet knows how to make vessels. Yea, thats it. No one makes them because no one knows how. Except me. Then this will look much more like the marvel that it maybe could have been. ;-)

So here is my first "Finished" vessel.

  1. Great going Janice! I think it has a warm and comfortable feeling.

Didja think your first one would rival the instructor's? He had to practice a LOT to get that good!

A little re-write: The marvel that it IS: your very first pot; a fist-full of inspiration; room for fulfilled, continuing and unrealized aspirations inside; a work of the heart.

  7. I think this is fabulous for a first attempt. Having done a bit of chasing and repousse work this summer, I know how challenging it can be but how soul satisfying too.
