I am certainly not a scholar on love.
I don't have all the answers or a perfect track record.
I do believe though in REAL love.
Real love is hard. . . . its not always easy or pretty.
Its not about what you get.....
it is about what you give -
its about choices
acceptance
forgiveness
mercy
grace
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
I can't even tell you how many ways I have broken so much of the above - just today alone.....
Like I said - real love isn't easy.
I love this song by JJ Heller. . . .
What Love Really Means - JJ Heller
He cries in the corner where nobody sees
He’s the kid with the story no one would believe
He prays every night, “Dear God won’t you please
Could you send someone here who will love me?”
Who will love me for me
Not for what I have done or what I will become
Who will love me for me
‘Cause nobody has shown me what love
What love really means
Her office is shrinking a little each day
She’s the woman whose husband has run away
She’ll go to the gym after working today
Maybe if she was thinner
Then he would’ve stayed
And she says…
Who will love me for me?
Not for what I have done or what I will become
Who will love me for me?
‘Cause nobody has shown me what love, what love really means
He’s waiting to die as he sits all alone
He’s a man in a cell who regrets what he’s done
He utters a cry from the depths of his soul
“Oh Lord, forgive me, I want to go home”
Then he heard a voice somewhere deep inside
And it said
“I know you’ve murdered and I know you’ve lied
I have watched you suffer all of your life
And now that you’ll listen, I’ll tell you that I...”
I will love you for you
Not for what you have done or what you will become
I will love you for you
I will give you the love
The love that you never knew
And it said

And now that you’ll listen, I’ll tell you that I...”
I will love you for you
Not for what you have done or what you will become
I will love you for you
I will give you the love
The love that you never knew
=============
it is so touching.....so many never experience real love, they crave it, search for it (sometimes not knowing that is what they are searching for)....we live in such a warped society in so many ways.
For me, love isn't pictured with red and pink hearts, chocolate candy, or puffed stuffed animals....to me, it looks more like weathered hands - washing dishes or cradling a grandchild, tired faces that smile, hugs and spent tears, well worn rugs where young couples danced and worried parents paced, picking up toys and tucking in blankets, soft smiles and knowing glances, comfortable times of silence when words aren't needed, its believing and trusting - its letting in and letting go, walking alongside of (and sometimes carrying).......its the day in and day out.
What are your thoughts on love?
