TFT (Tales from Tuesdays)

Another Tuesday night - come and gone!

In a perfect world there would have been chinese food on the table again and I would have gotten out of work right on time. *sigh* I don't know about you, but I don't live in a perfect world.

I ended up working a bit late last night, then had some family drama, got home, made pancakes (no, we don't normally observe Shrove Tuesday, but it seemed like a nice reason to use some of the blueberries and strawberries in the fridge that were in danger of going bad), anyway, gobbled down some delicious pancakes (ok and some bacon), then off into the basement!

Errrrrrr, not so fast. "Mommmmmmmm!?"

"yes hon?"
"can you come here?"

"Sure, what do you need?"
"Is this (Willium) how to spell William?"

"No sweety, its an 'a' not a 'u'?"

"OK, thanks Mom."

I head for the basement door......"Mom?"

"Yes hon?"

"I love you"

"I love you to sweety. I'm going downstairs now. Remember? Its TUUUUUUESDAY night"

"oh yeaaaaaa, ok Mom. Maybe we can snuggle later."

"You betcha"

And off I went. So it was a little after 7pm when I hit the bench. I got right to work on some rings I had begun a few days ago - 5 in all. I had made bezels and attached them to backplates and now I needed to cut the backplates down to size, add any embellishments, add shanks, clean up, sand, polish, etc.

At about 7:20 my son arrived at my bench.

Have I mentioned how much I love and adore that little guy?

"Hi Mom."

"Hi sweety. Are you gonna play a bit while I work?"

"Yea....then maybe you can do something with me."

"Yep, I will. Do you know what that is?"

"No."

"I'll tuck you in bed in an hour!!!!" (whaaahahahaha)

"Noooooooooo, I want you to do something with me, really do something."

"We'll see, let me finish up some things here."

"Can I help you?"

"No, sweety, the torch is really hot."

I go back to working, he plays on the 'finished' side of the basement.

"DANG! Out of oxy, gotta switch tanks, only 2 left, will need more oxygen soon."

"Hey Mom!? I've got oxygen for you.....whooooooooooooooooooo (blowing hard and long)"

Me laughing: "ya know, there is a torch that people blow through..."

Him: "AHHHHHH!" runs screaming from the room. ;-)

I worked until 8:20 then we played a rousing game (ok 2) of air hockey and then I went and snuggled with him while he had a snack and then I tucked him in bed. After that I nearly FLEW back to the basement. I worked until a little after 10pm and then decided to call it a night. That seemed SO early, but starting earlier allowed me to quit when I wanted.

The rings are 'put together' but still need a bit of clean up, polish, patina, stones set. I had hoped to snap a few photos but I never made it back downstairs once I went up. Funny how one thing turns into the next and before you know it, its 11:30 and I'm feeding fish, putting dogs out, turning off lights...and heading up to bed. But its so relaxed. No working until I'm bleary eyed and dragging my tired butt up to bed at midnight.

I think I'm in love with Tuesdays. :)

And my little guy.

Dancing fool that he is. ;-)

Hope to have pics of the rings soon!

Lisa - THANK YOU!! He is yummy, and he's a 'good' boy to boot - well, so far anyway. I hope we can stay good friends as he grows up. :)
